Stop banging away on my kaleidoscope.
Stop draining the color out of my scene.

Kaleidoscope: Blink-182

Working on my internship again during my day off.
I’m up to 18 pages already for my paper. My advisor asked me to at least include a table of contents for her. :/

At least I get to enjoy some yummy coffee and salad while I work.
Have I mentioned how much I love this coffee shop?

P.s.- If ya’ll want someone to chat with, odds are I’m going to get distracted from my work again in a few minutes. Because staying focused is a legitimate challenge for me. So you should leave me fun things in my ask box.

Mark Hoppus: Silver Fox.

Legitimately my first crush, ever, when I was like 8 years old.
I’d still marry him in a heartbeat. You know, if his family wasn’t fucking perfect.

Also, why the fuck doesn’t this have more notes?! RESPECT CHILDREN, LEARN IT.

There’s so much more that I wanted and there’s so much more that I needed and time keeps moving on and on and on …
Soon we’ll all be gone

This song literally is perfect. It’s just one of those songs where it could not possibly be any better. I love it more every time I hear it.

I didn’t go into much detail last night because I was at HP mostly, but I was going to share some of my thoughts on “Up All Night.”

It kind of bugs me the number of people on facebook and tumblr who keep posting “I wanted more of the old blink” or “blink was so much better in 1995!”

A. In 1995 Blink had JUST come out and sorry, but the recording sound quality on Buddha does still sound like it’s in a garage. I still like it, but their sound was not smoothed out at that point at all. So I think you’re full of shit and trying to predate your taste for blink before they “went mainstream.”

B. I distinctly remember near the end before blink182 broke up that they had announced that they were going to stop playing Enema of the State songs on their tour, that their music was going to head in a new direction, that they were tired of not being able to progress forward with their sound, etc. So I never expected to hear “old blink” from this song. And I think trying to tell yourself that the blink182 of 2001 could come back to 2011 with the exact same sound ten years later and be just as big is kind of kidding yourself. If a band is going to come back after this long, they have to adapt and stay relevant to evolved tastes and trends in music. That’s just the way it is. And I mean every band that comes back after years or has lasted as long as blink182 will have very different sounding periods in their music. Look at Jefferson Airplane/Starship for an example.

C. I will admit, to one thing, the people who say it’s too much Angels and Airwaves, I see where you get that from. My only thing I would change is maybe more of Mark’s vocals, because he had really advanced them with +44 I think. But this is one song off an entire new album. I highly doubt Tom will do this much of the vocals on all the songs from now on out. So calm yo selfs, I think this will probably be one of the heavier songs off the album.

D. Travis still kills on drums. I don’t care what anyone says.

E. I still love the fuck out of this song. I love the lyrics. It doesn’t make me jump around the room all crazy dancing, but I like it. I honestly do. And I am really happy to see blink182 back and I am genuinely excited for what they do next.

ATTENTION!!! Up All Night premiere is being moved up to today in the next few hours!!! Stay tuned!!!

I AM READY FOR THIS.

I feel like Zenon when Proto Zoa came out of retirement.*

*If you don’t know who that is, you’re too young to be on the interwebz right now.

Can I just say that I love the digital age?
Not only do I live in a world where I can actually follow the blog of my first ever celebrity crush, but he also answers questions fans ask him!
Which means I could theoretically ask Mark Hoppus a question and get a direct answer from him without having to wait in line for concert tickets, write into those silly contests teen magazines used to hold or try to call into a radio station at a certain oddball time of day.

My inner eight year old is still jumping on couch cushions along to the “Buddha” CD and totally hyper as fuck over this.
Mark will always be my favorite.
